With all the madness that is South by Southwest, we often seem to forget about that other eclectic showcase of music that goes down one month prior in San Francisco. But that’s not to say the Noise Pop Music Festival isn’t good because one look at its initial lineup will tell you that’s certainly not the case. In fact, thanks to a slew of recent additions, one could even argue that the San Fransisco based event, scheduled to go down between February 24 and March 1, is as good as anything out there, including whatever Austin has to offer. Don’t believe us? Just take a look at said additions.

Portugal. The Man, Les Savy Fav, AA Bondy, N.A.S.A., Kool Keith, Matt Costa, Japanese Motors, The Oh Sees, Dave Dondero, and Thao of Thao with The Get Down Stay Down are among the latest acts currently scheduled to grace Noise Pop. As is John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats, who will be splitting his time between a solo show and guest speaking engagement. And the best part about it all? There’s still a few more acts TBA. All the necessary info, including the day-by-day schedule, and tickets can be had via NoisePop.com.

Of course, any good San Franciscan would tell you Noise Pop isn’t the only stellar music going down in the Golden Gate City over the next couple months. As Metrowize.com recently pointed out to us in their SF Festival Guide, between the SF Indie Fest, San Francisco Oyster and Beer Festival, and North Beach Jazz Festival, there truly is something for everyone out there.
