Brace yourself, Warren Haynes is back and ready to party. From May 29-31, 2009, live music, much of it his, will be taking over New York’s Hunter Mountain for what will be Mountain Jam V. And thanks to a slew of recent edition thinks truly did just get a while lot jammier. Umphrey’s McGee, The Grateful Dead’s Bill Kreutzmann (featuring Oteil Burbridge and Scott Murawski), Gomez, Gene Ween Band, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Marco Benevento Trio, Eric Krasno & Chapter 2, and Alberta Cross have been tapped to join the previously announced Coheed & Cambria, Michael Franti & Spearhead, The Derek Trucks Band, Girl Talk, Jackie Greene, The Brew, and this year’s festival hit The Macpodz.
Oh yeah, and a couple of legendary guitarist turned festival producer’s pet projects will be there as well, as both The Allman Brothers and Gov’t Mule will serve as the headliners of Mountain Jam. Of course, any jam head will tell you the inclusion of Mule wasn’t all that unexpected; this will mark the fifth year the band has o-headlined the festival, having split the bill previously with the Levon Helm Band, Umphrey’s McGee, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, and Medeski, Martin & Wood.
