As if the anticipation leading up to Mastodon‘s new album, Crack The Skye, wasn’t big enough, now comes word of a tour that looks to be equally captivating. Shortly after the release of fourth full-length endeavor (March 24th), the Atlanta metal head will embark on an extensive North American tour where they will Crack The Skye literally everywhere. Don’t believe me? Take Bill Kelliher’s word for it.
In a recent interview with Billboard, the Mastodon guitarist revealed that the band will play Crack The Skye on each night of the upcoming tour, noting, “there’s something about [the album] where it would be weird to leave a song out.” The performances will also reportedly be accompanied by an extensive and “stimulating” stage setup, highlighted by a short movie which “Kelliher predicts will be Mastodon’s version of ‘The Wall.'”
Pre-sale tickets for the North American tour, which will feature Kylesa and Intronaut in support, will go on sale beginning Wednesday, March 4th. Mastodon also has plans to head to Europe this summer, where the band will split its time between opening for Metallica and music festivals.
