    Dear Billy Bob Thornton,

Like 99.96% of America, I best know you as a slightly above average actor and former husband of Angelina Jolie – not as a member of the musical outfit The Boxmasters. And this is coming from someone who probably spends over 16 hours a day dealing directly with the world of music.

Now I can understand why you wouldn’t want your film career to be used as a publicity tool to attract people to your music. But that doesn’t mean, nor gives you the right to completely disown your career and become an absolute tool, like you did when CBC radio host Jian Ghomeshi opened his interview with you yesterday morning by mentioning you are an Oscar-winning screenwriter and actor. You apparently took great offense to these comments and made the five minutes that followed completely awkward by refusing to answer any of Ghomeshi’s questions.

The fact is, Billy Bob, most of America doesn’t know The Boxmasters, and Ghomeshi was using one of the band’s most appealing, and probably only attribute – your presence – to attract the listener’s attention. He was doing you a favor, nothing more, nothing less.

The most ironic part of all this however? The fact that most of America probably does know who your band is now, courtesy of your meltdown yesterday. And the only reason why? Because you, Billy Bob Thornton, world famous actor of such sub par films as Astronaut Farmer and Bad Santa, had a meltdown on air because you don’t like being known as Billy Bob Thornton, world famous actor of such sub par films as Astronaut Farmer and Bad Santa.

    Way to go champ.
