Need any evidence of Baltimore, Maryland’s vibrant music scene? Look no further than the Wham City-produced Whartscape Music Festival, which again has proved, well, Baltimore has a lot of different stuff going on. In fact, this year’s edition, set to take place from July 10-12, particularly looks to highlight this post with an ’09 bill not necessarily focused around headliners, but “mainly performers and friends that make up the community we tour, work and live in.” Consequently, while a few of your usual heavy-hitters are present (e.g., Dan Deacon, Future Islands, Living Things and Ponytail) most of this year’s acts are relative unknowns, the best example being the Dina Kelberman’s yet-to-be-titled act, Something by Dina Kelberman, which as it turns out, is something. Yay for discovering! Head here for a complete listing of the scheduled action; pick up your tickets beginning Monday, June 29th via whamcity.com.
