Let’s caught you got up: Alternative hip-hop band Flobots, which is really just Jamie “MC Jonny 5” Laurie and a rotating cast of musicians, have been together since 2000. Fast forward to 2008 and their sophomore release Fight With Tools spawns the hit “Handlebars” on modern rock radio. Now, with a pending third release, the band is ending 2009 with a hefty winter outing.

Per LiveDaily, the tour kicks off on November 12th in Las Vegas. With shows throughout the Southwest and into the Midwest, New York and even stops in the South, the tour hits 24 cities in just over a month before ending triumphantly in the band’s almost-home of Boulder, Colorado.

As for the album, details are minimal. But guitarist Alex said the band worked with a producer for the first time (none other than Beastie Boys mastermind Mario Caldato) and have achieved a something old, something new sound.

“We’ve taken it up another level musically,” guitarist Andy Guerrero recently told ColoradoDaily.com “We’ve all grown as a band and as songwriters. We changed things up a bit, but its still a Flobots record.”

The untitled album is scheduled for early 2010. Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster.
