Now that all that Phish madness is over (for now), frontman Trey Anastasio has announced plans to return to the solo side of things. Throughout the month of February, he’ll join Classic TAB, the band which has backed him on many of his solo projects, for a series of tour of U.S. tour dates.
The tour kicks off with a special benefit show at the Jefferson Theatre in Charlottesville, VA on February 8th. According to an issued press release, the date marks what would have been the 47th birthday of Trey’s sister, Kristine, an esteemed environmentalist and author who died of neuroendocrine cancer last April. Proceeds from the show will go to the Kristine Anastasio Manning Memorial Fund, which supports many of the causes and charities she devoted herself to.
After that, it’s on to Washington, Philadelphia, Boston, New York, Chicago, and several other East Coast cities before Trey and Co. wraps things off with dates in Nashville, Charlotte, Atlanta, and Knoxville.
As for what to expect? Well, for one Classic TAB has added horns to the lineup, with Russell Remington (tenor saxophone and flute) and Jen Hartswick (trumpet and vocals) once again joining Russ Lawton (drums), Tony Markellis (bass), and Ray Paczkowski (keyboards). Natalie Cressman will also join the band on trombone and vocals, replacing her father, Jeff Cressman.
The septet promises to perform material that spans Anastasio’s solo career, including “Push On ‘Til The Day” (from 2000’s Trey Anastasio), “Sweet Dreams Melinda” and “Sleep Again” (from 2005’s Shine), “Goodbye Head” (2006’s Bar 17), and “Olivia” and “Burlap Sack & Pumps” (2007’s The Horseshoe Curve). The band is also expected to debut several new selections.
Find confirmed tour dates below. An online ticket request period begins tomorrow, January 6th, at 10:00 a.m. EST at treytickets.rlc.net. Tickets will go on sale to the general public next week via Ticketmaster.com.
