After wrapping up the “Young Money Presents: America’s Most Wanted Music Festival” tour and taking part in highly censored but nonetheless roof-burning performance at the Grammys, Drake is ready to check off another item on the superstar checklist: his first solo tour, which kicks off in April.
“The Away From Home Tour” officially begins on April 6th in Charleston, IL and powers through the next month with nearly a show a day until the tour wraps up on May 8th in Plymouth, NH. While Drizzy has played to plenty of packed stadiums and venues, this time there’s a few “private locations” scheduled. Is that code for some R. Kelly-like debauchery? We’re hoping so. The tour will also mostly hit college campuses, over 15 in all, as a part of the “Campus Conscious Tour”. Joining the former Degrassi star on the road is synth pop act Francis & The Lights and K-os (you know, the MC who won’t make any more albums).
And if you think rocking out at college campuses and private shindigs is the only thing on Drake’s mind, think again; he cares for the greatest woman of all– Mother Earth. That’s why, in a partnership with the non-profit Reverb, the tour will use biodiesel fuel and recyclable products, and offer education and information on all things green at the Eco-Village. Now that’s a good time we can endorse.
Drake’s debut album, Thank Me Later, is scheduled for a March 2010 release date.
