Waxwing reunion on the way?

While Seattle indie rockers Waxwing only broke up five years ago, it must feel like a lot longer to their fans. The influential Seattle outfit’s last tour ended with farewell concerts in 2005, and final LP, Nobody Can Take What Everyone Owns, was released way back in 2002. Luckily, there may be good news on the horizon since singer/guitarist Rocky Votolato is open to the idea of a reunion.

Discussing his new solo album, True Devotion, with the Seattle Weekly, Votolato seemed to have feelings of regret on the band’s break-up. “We were really torn on it, too, because Waxwing was going decently well,” he said. The group came apart around the same time Votolato was working on his solo debut, Suicide Machine, and his brother Cody Votolato was finding success with his own band, Blood Brothers.

In case this isn’t concrete enough for you, Votolato also mentioned he had been talking about a Waxwing reunion tour in the winter and that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if the band worked on new material within the next few years.

Votolato is currently on tour in support of True Devotion with dates lasting to the end of May. Hopefully after the tour, they’ll be more news for Waxwing fans.
