Indie rock trio Good Old War announces album, tour

Only two years ago, Keith Goodwin and Tim Arnold’s progressive rock outfit, Days Away, disbanded so the members could explore other options. Looking to strip down its sound, the duo joined forces with ex-Unlikely Cowboy singer/songwriter/guitarist Dan Schwartz to create the vocally-driven folk-rock trio, Good Old War.

Named after an amalgamation of their last names (GOODwin, arnOLD, schWARtz) the threesome’s aptitude for song-writing and harmonization is quite remarkable given their recent formation. Songs like “Coney Island”, “Weak Man”, and “Window” from their debut LP Only Way to be Alone, are reminiscent of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young; soul piercing vocal melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and twangy instrumentation.

Not satisfied to pigeonhole themselves within a given genre, Good Old War secluded themselves in a remote house in the Pocono Mountains to craft an album exploring weightier topics such as love, loss and addiction, and utilized new instruments, techniques and conventions to push the boundaries of their familiar indie rock/folk territory. This self-titled album will be available June 1st on Sargent House Records.
