Look out! The Gaslight Anthem is coming!

When a band can tell a good story, they’re usually acclaimed. That goes triple for The Hold Steady, but it goes double for The Gaslight Anthem — only because we’ve heard so little. But with the group’s third LP, American Slang, on its way, we can only hope for more page turners intriguing listens.

With the new effort due June 15th, it only makes sense the band would pack their bags and hit the road. Well, golly gee, that’s exactly what they plan to do. And from the looks of their short itinerary, we’re bound for a.) more dates and b.) one hell of a summer. The whole thing kicks off in New York City at Irving Plaza, where they’ll celebrate the release of American Slang, and continue throughout the Midwest, leading out to California and back for a gracious return. Look closely and you’ll see that Detroit has one hell of a fucking bill. The Hold Steady and The Gaslight Anthem? Christ, that’s almost too good to be true, and if The Whigs dust off some oldies, it could be the bill of the summer. Well, let’s not go overboard.

If you’re all jazzed about this, then the PR push worked. If so, head over to iTunes tomorrow. If you pre-order the new record, you’ll receive two new mp3s: “She Loves You” and an acoustic version of current single “American Slang”. For physical enthusiasts, you can hit up the album’s official site, where you can pick from a variety of formats, including limited-edition, colored vinyl!

Our advice, though? Get to Detroit this July.
