Watch: Thurston Moore teaches kids how to make noise rock

Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore is a veteran, dare we say a pioneer, of noise rock. And while he’s entertained plenty for decades, he ain’t getting much younger and it’s time to pass his knowledge down to the next generation. And what better place to start then in kindergarten.

On April 11th, Moore and Bill Nace (Northampton Wools) gave a “Dissertation on White Noise” to a group of children between the ages of eight and 12 years old at Partners & Spade’s Avant Garde Preschool. While there’s no footage of Professor Moore lecturing, enjoy the sight of the 51-year old Moore teaching the kiddies how to tweak pedal effects and make sweet music by hitting a guitar with a stick.

If only this school had existed just 20 years or so earlier…
