Daniel Lanois, the acclaimed Canadian music producer, is in intensive care following a motorcycle accident this past weekend, according to Entertainment Weekly. Lanois suffered multiple injuries but is expected to be released from intensive care soon, an issued press release notes. Due to the severity of the injuries, Lanois will be recuperating for the next two months.
As a result, Lanois has been forced to cancel his scheduled European tour for this July. The producer is also reportedly working with both Neil Young and Brandon Flowers on new studio albums, but there is no word on whether Lanois’ injuries will affect the timetable of their release.
Born in Hull, Quebec, Canada, the 58-year-old Lanois is perhaps best known for his work with both Bob Dylan (Oh Mercy, Time Out of Mind) and U2 (The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, & All That You Cant Leave Behind).
