Blame Danger Mouse. Every since his Beatles/Jay-Z mashup The Grey Album went viral, every laptop DJ with Garageband has been mashing up random artists. There’s the xx vs. Notorious B.I.G., Nirvana vs. Lady Gaga, and now this. (500) Days of Weezy pairs Lil Wayne with samples from the (500) Days of Summer soundtrack. Every artist, from Feist to Hall & Oates, gets some Weezy verses.
“Apologies to Morrissey and Simon & Garfunkel for fucking with your songs,” DJ My Sick Uncle posted along with the mix. Indeed, one wonders how the notoriously uptight Smiths frontman would feel about his music being paired with rhymes about bling, blunts, and balling. The mixtape is still available though, meaning the DJ hasn’t gotten any cease-and-desist notices yet (or he’s ignoring them).
