I feel like Arcade Fire has reached that point where they’re now Mother-approved. As in, you’ll soon be receiving a call from your mom asking if you’ve heard of this band called “The Arcade Fires”, because she read about them in Entertainment Weekly or heard them on NPR’s Morning Edition. Not that there’s anything wrong with this, of course, but I’m not sure how our friends across the Atlantic expect to take their moms to one of the band’s upcoming gigs when Fucked Up is slated to open. Now, how do you explain that one? They’re both Canadian?
The two acts will travel Europe together this fall, beginning in Lisbon, Portugal on November 18th. They’ll then make their way through Spain and France before capping off their travels in Dusseldorf, Germany on November 29th. After that, Arcade Fire will team up with Devendra Banhart for a series of UK dates. Oh yeah, and then there’s two shows with Vampire Weekend in Dublin on December 5th and 6th. Take your mom to those ones instead.
