Stone Temple Pilots postpone upcoming tour dates

Frontman Scott Weiland and the rest of the Stone Temple Pilots have announced the postponement of 12 upcoming tour dates and have rescheduled some of them for October (via Billboard). No reason for the postponement was offered on the band’s website, but this news does come days after Weiland delivered a (not-so) shocking drunken rant onstage at a Houston, TX, show at The Woodlands Pavilion on September 19th.

After starting an hour late, Weiland took to the mic, and after some rambling about his lack of faith in the internet, he had this to say:

“The 8th of December will be the time when I stopped doing dope. No, no, no, no. I started drinking again. My brother died, I got divorced to my wife, and my whole world basically spun around. So you know what? I’m going to take care of myself because that’s what I need to take care of. Instead of just having a few shows, I want to have a whole hell of a lot of shows.” All of this is intermingled with awkward cheers from the audience. You can check out the video below.

For those of you left holding your tickets, worry not; they will be honored for the rescheduled shows. However, it appears as if the only rescheduled dates thus far are Raleigh, NC, Charlotte, SC, Austin, TX, and Corpus Christi, TX.

No official announcement has been made as to whether or not openers Black Rebel Motorcycle Club will join them for the rescheduled dates, but it looks like their current tour schedule affords them the opportunity.

As always, as soon as we know more about the rescheduled shows, we’ll let you know. Per STP’s website, below are the current scheduled dates for the band. The canceled dates are struck through.

This isn’t the first time STP ran into trouble on this tour. Back in March, guitarist Dean DeLeo had to help Weiland get through the end of their set and eventually walked right offstage. Antics!
