Kylie Minogue to embark on ridiculous world tour

If you haven’t heard, Kylie has back. Err, Kylie is back. Brace yourself for a spectacle on the Australian pop singer’s upcoming world tour – not that there was any doubt to begin with. For the endeavor, billed the “Aphrodite: Les Folies Tour 2011”, Kylie Minogue has prepared a setup that puts Lady Gaga to shame. As Perez Hilton reports, Minogue promises the “most technologically advanced and extravagant stage that has ever been built to date.” This would include, he says, “1 million movable parts associated with the stage, seven lifts, 600 light sources, a special ‘Fly System,’ which was inspired by the Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark on Broadway and a ‘Wet Zone’.”

Wondering what that means? Take a look at the thumbnail to the right. That would be jets of water, reportedly able to reach 30 meters high (not sure how San Francisco’s Bill Graham Auditorium can handle that). If it reminds you of Vegas, that would be because, according to Hilton, the people behind the Bellagio water shows were on hand to develop Minogue’s show.

Also reportedly included are 200 costumes, 20 acrobats, and 25 million big ones.

The North American portion of the tour, supporting Minogue’s latest album Aphrodite, follows a lengthy European leg and a couple shows in Japan. The trip kicks off in Montreal April 28th, covers the East Coast, and heads west in the middle of May. Kylie will split the Texas dates and find herself in Mexico from the 12th through the 16th. The final confirmed dates are in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. The full itinerary is below.

Pre-sale tickets for the U.S. leg of the tour begin January 14th, with a public onsale to follow January 22nd. Visit Minogue’s website for more information.

Update: The issued press release for Minogue’s North American tour gives no indication that the dates will feature the aforementioned production.
