Sick of OFWGKTA yet? Well, fun fact: the LA hip hop collective better known by bloggers as Odd Future doesn’t even have a record contract yet. Despite Tyler, the Creator’s one-off deal with XL Recordings and MellowHype’s collabo with Fat Possum Records, the adolescent rap gang remains unsigned and are reportedly fielding calls from the likes of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Bad Boy Records, Interscope Records, and SRC Records.
MTV reports that Odd Future already met with Jay-Z over tacos during South by Southwest, and Diddy was instrumental in the group meeting Justin Bieber. However, the collective is now asking interested labels to present their case at the Supreme skate shop in Fairfax, California, according to the New York Post.
There’s no apparent timetable for when Odd Future will sign a record deal. In the meantime, Tyler’s sophomore LP, Goblin, hits stores May 10th via XL Recordings. Update: Per a newly issued press release, MellowHype will perform “64” on Fuel TV’s The Daily Habit Tuesday, April 5th, with Fat Possum labelmates Bass Drum of Death serving as the backing band.
