A Perfect Circle intends to record new album

To many A Perfect Circle fans, the fact that Maynard James Keenan, Billy Howerdel, and the bunch are back together touring is a bonus — two years ago, there was no convincing evidence the band would bother, what with MJK’s other commitments. Now that they are touring, as with Rage Against the Machine or Soundgarden, the question of course has been whether anything will come of it.

Guitarist Howerdel has sort of answered that question. Speaking with Rocknewsdesk.com, he intimated, “We’re going to have at least one new song on the tour. It’s very close to being done, and from there, things could come together. Once we’re on the road and start hashing through our ideas, they could quickly become a song and make it onto the stage.”

Howerdel continued, “So there’s an album in the works, but not for this summer. The idea was to get the juices flowing a bit and get back into A Perfect Circle mode, and go from there. But we do intend to record new material.”

The “quickly become a song” bit sounds a little suspect, but if the process works for them, who are we to judge? Stay tuned, at least until August when the current run of dates is over.
