Just because a band plays mutilated punk music and has a big, sweaty frontman that looks like a bear does not mean that they can’t be geniuses when it comes to marketing. For their forthcoming LP, David Comes to Life, Fucked Up has released four singles, not to mention a Record Store Day covers album, and scheduled dates with Dinosaur Jr. and Foo Fighters. Now, those crafty Canucks are going behind the scenes to give fans a look at the making of the new record and how it has forever changed the band.
The clip, available for viewing above, sees the band discussing a number of topics, including the essentials of a killer logo and the aesthetics of punk to their notorious live show and their philosophy behind releasing music. Cutting into the record that, on paper, is their most massive undertaking to date, the group explains their journey to grow beyond the boundaries of hardcore and the trials and tribulations of crafting this record. Even with a name like Fucked Up, these proud Toronto, ON residents (Torontonites?) do what they do with an unheard of level of depth and resolve.
David Comes to Life hits stores June 7th via Matador Records.
