gracejones Grace Jones readies first U.S. release in 22 years

Singer/actress/model/gay icon Grace Jones put out an album in 2008, but a physical release never reached U.S. shores, despite it producing hits overseas and plenty of critical praise. Her shows in Los Angeles and New York in 2009 were also well received. For whatever reason, perhaps the rise of Lady Gaga, Hurricane will now become Jones’ first U.S. release in 22 years, following 1989’s Bulletproof Heart.

Hurricane, produced by Jones and Ivor Guest, comes out September 6th via [PIAS] America. It features such guests as Brian Eno, Tricky, and Sly & Robbie. It includes international hits “Williams’ Blood” and Corporate Cannibal”, as well as seven other tracks. The release will also include a bonus dub version of the album, Hurricane V2 (In Dub).

Download an MP3 of “Sunset Sunrise”, cowritten by Jones’ son Paulo Goude, below. Also check out the video for “Corporate Cannibal”, which puts Gaga to shame.
