Two years isn’t much of wait between album releases, but it can be if there’s drama. Case in point: Christopher Browder’s Mansions. Between label issues and a potential band break up on his hands, Browder’s last two years have only helped fuel his rather dark output. That brings us to his latest LP, this past April’s Dig Up The Dead – the light at the end of a very dark tunnel, and a well-received light at that.
“City Don’t Care” is the latest single from Dig Up The Dead, and the track’s accompanying video is just as bleak as the title implies. Browder is standing alone amidst the rocks at water’s edge looking out at the horizon, watching and waiting for something that doesn’t seem to come. The video comes to life much like a double exposure – the images of Browder and the water layered over each other to create a single shot. A rather poignant metaphor to give insight into what it took to create the music that came out of the musician.
Head on over to Cluster 1 to check out the video for “City Don’t Care”. Need to see Mansions live? There are two weeks of dates lined up to catch Browder and company on the road. And keep checking back with us for more from Mansions as a 7-inch release is on the way. Stay tuned.
