Before their recent theatrical debacle, U2 had a pretty impressive resume going for them. Rattle & Hum? U23D? Both dazzling highlights in their widely celebrated repertoire. It looks like they’re about to add another, too. Forging ahead and leaving the webbed tights behind them, the group will unleash a new documentary, titled From The Sky Down, this September at the Toronto International Film Festival, reports RollingStone.com.
Directed by Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth and Waiting for Superman), From The Sky Down will use archival footage and brand-new band interviews to tell the story of the band’s 1991 album Achtung Baby. The LP, which featured hits like “One” and “Mysterious Ways”, was given mostly favorable reviews for its darker tone and infusion of dance and industrial music. In addition, it was the Billboard 200’s 74th best-selling pop album of the 1990s.
The documentary will premiere at a gala event on September 8th. Stay tuned for more news and clips/trailers as they’re released.
