Tonight (7/30/11) will see Arcade Fire playing to 70,000 people as the openers for the final night of the world’s highest grossing tour. Last night, Win and co. temporarily changed their name to Shark Attack! and played an unannounced set to no more than 1,000 people at the first night of SappyFest, a small independent music event in New Brunswick. That’s some Springsteen-like epicness right there!
ArcadeFireTube points us to a video clip from last night, which sees Arcade Fire Shark Attack! performing “Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out)” and “Rebellion (Lies)”. ArcadeFireTube also reports that the band walked out to the “Jaws” theme song and stuck to the Shark Attack! theme the entire time, with Win telling the audience that “This is our first show.” He also introduced “Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out)” as “a quiet introspective song called ‘Dear God, are you there? It’s me – Margaret.'” Someone explain to me how you can hate these guys?
