Normally, musicians gain some level of notoriety in an established rock band before venturing off on their own. But in the case of Tyler Ramsey, the Cincinnati native’s career started out as a solo artist who eventually brought even more prestige to an already well-loved group, Band of Horses.
In support of the announcement of his new solo album The Valley Wind, due September 27th via Fat Possum Records, Ramsey will follow up his travels with Band of Horses and embark on a tour of his own on the East Coast this fall, with the promise of more dates to follow. The title track, and first single, from the forthcoming album, debuted this week, with the influence of Ramsey’s time spent with Band of Horses showing quite clearly. “The Valley Wind” is a stoic, yet heart-rending track that feature Ramsey’s soft-spoken, intimate vocals breathing life over a reverberated guitar riff.
