It may come as a total shocker to some that the haunting-harmonies of the Appalachian-folk trio Mountain Man come from neither mountains nor men. Fear not, as the all-female group is more than capable of achieving complete musical bliss through not much more than sweet-as-honey vocals and a microphone. Hey, instruments are overrated anyway.
The Vermont-based outfit recently laid down some tracks during a live-session for LaundroMatinee at the Big Car Gallery. Check out their hypnotic performance of “Holy Father” below and revel in the beauty of the finest folk-revival this side of the Green Mountains. Filmed by Doug Fellegy, the video is a sun-drenched tribute to the rustic days of old, encompassing the memorable melodies and pitch-perfect harmonization of only the most delicately-crafted Americana.
We also have the mp3 download for those who want their own copy of the tune.
Need even more a cappella greatness in your life? Head on over to LaundroMatinee for a second video from the sessions featuring Mountain Man performing “Play It Right”. Watch it here.
