The Pumpkins have a long history with EMI, dating back to the release of 1991’s GishIn a statement, the company’s EVP/GM Mike Harris said of the forthcoming release: “We are thrilled to extend the long-term partnership between The Smashing Pumpkins and EMI with the release of Oceania. Everybody at EMI Label Services is looking forward to working closely with Billy and the band to help them deliver their vision and their music to fans around the world.”

First announced in April 2011, Oceania is part of the band’s still ongoing 44-song concept album Teargarden by Kaleidyscope. In September, Corgan revealed that Oceania comprises 13 songs and runs just over an hour.
