Hey, another cover by Beck! As previously reported, Mr. Hansen, Coldplay, Eddie Vedder, U2’s Bono and The Edge, and a number of other musicians appear on a new compilation benefiting the organization Every Mother Counts. We’ve already heard Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros’ “Mother”, and now Beck weighs in, offering his own spin on the 1928 classic 12-bar country blues anthem, “Corrina, Corrina”. Given that the songwriter is no slouch with an acoustic, the popular cover, which has been reworked by many a folk singer before him, comes out just fine. Stream it over at Pitchfork.
Every Mother Counts will be available at Starbucks exclusively from May 1-29th, and you can find the tracklist below. The organization is an advocacy and mobilization campaign to increase education and support for maternal mortality reduction globally.
