With their Matador Records debut Zoo, California punk upstarts Ceremony reeled in the sonic rage without forgoing their big, crushing sound. They display a similar dynamic with their previously-unreleased cover of The Ramones minute-long anthem “I Don’t Wanna Be Learned/I Don’t Wanna Be Tamed”. The original’s carefree vibe and lo-fi production is polished and sped up, resulting in a steady, blistering groove that, while faithful, is Ceremony’s through and through.
