As promised, Sacramento punk-rap outfit Death Grips will follow up April’s release of The Money Store with a second album in 2012. According to Pitchfork, NO LOVE DEEP WEB will be released this fall (“most likely” in late October) via Epic/Columbia.
In an issued statement, the band says the 13-track effort was primarily recorded in Sacramento and Oakland, California, mixed in Shanghai, China, and features no guest collaborators or outside producers. There are also no “manually programmed drums on this album, the the beats are being played live on a roland electronic v-drum set or acoustic drum set by Zach [Hill].”
The band says of the end result: “The material is cold, bass heavy, minimal, rock & roll influenced and could simultaneously fit into a rave or dance club context. It is essentially rap and electronic music while at times extremely aggressive.”
In support of the release, Death Grips plans to tour internationally (their most recent tour was canceled so they could complete the album.) In addition, the band is “in correspondence with Crispin Glover and working toward a video collaboration with him relating to this album.”
