With just a week to go before the start of their reunion tour, the Conor Oberst-led Desaparecidos have announced their first new material in a decade. The two tracks, “MariKKKopa” and “Backsell”, will be available tomorrow digitally and on double A-sided 7″ vinyl via the band’s website. You can also listen to “MariKKKopa” in the YouTube video below (via The Huffington Post), while “Backsell” is streaming at AltPress.

Speaking with The Huffington Post, Oberst said the experience of their 2010 reunion at the Concert For Equality in Omaha prompted the band to together earlier this spring, and inspired their new material. In fact, “MariKKKopa” is about Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, whose harsh immigration policies has drawn much criticism. Oberst samples Arpaio at the end of the song, using past soundbites in which he compared himself to the KKK.
