As previously reported, Phish frontman Trey Anastasio recruited members of The National and Mates of State for his next solo album. The end result, according to a press release, is titled Traveler and arrives on October 16th via Rubber Jungle Records/ATO Records.

The album was produced by Anastasio and Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Jónsi) last fall in Katis’ Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, CT. Along with The National’s Bryan Devendorf and Matt Berninger, Mates of State’s Kori Gardner, and Icelandic percussionist Samuli Kosminen (Eda), members of the Trey Anastasio Band appear on the album. The Trey Anastasio will also be heading out on the road this fall in support of the date (see tour schedule below).

Anastasio said in a statement: “My goal was to create an album that used the studio as an instrument. I wanted to work with Peter because he is a master at creating a sonic landscape. We were hoping for a cinematic end result.”
