On this week’s edition of Audiography, we feature reviews of new albums by Radiohead producer extraordinare Nigel Godrich and his project UltraÃsta, the return of John Darnielle and The Mountain Goats, and the latest aural aphrodisiacs by Miguel. We also feature an interview between Consequence of Sound‘s Len Comaratta and Joey Burns of Calexico.
As Calexico prepared to promote their latest album Algiers, named for the New Orleans district where it was recorded, Consequence of Sound caught up with principle member Joey Burns as he and his dog Ida took a stroll in the cool Arizona morning. The two discussed Calexico’s latest release and the haunting mysticism of the Crescent City that permeates throughout.
Listen as Burns’ waxes on the history of the city, the importance and influence of the Southern Hemisphere on the man and his band, as well as working with legends Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood.
