In 2009, filmmakers Alex Hammond and Ian Markiewicz released Waiting For Something, a short film on Memphis punk icon Jay Reatard’s journey from troubled youth to burgeoning DIY icon. Following his death in early 2010, Hammond and Markiewicz interviewed Reatard’s family and friends for an expanded version of the film, titled Better Than Something, which ran in theaters nationwide last year. Now, the creators have announced that the film will receive a wider release with a DVD package worthy of the punk king’s lineage on December 18th via Factory 25.

The DVD comes bundled with an LP and/or a book. The LP features 13 rare/unreleased live tunes from Reatard’s bands the Reatards, Lost Sounds, and Angry Angles (a limited run of 500 will be available on blood red vinyl). The 50-page booklet features essays from Black Lips’ Cole Alexander, King Khan, TV Smith of the Adverts, Lost Sounds’ Alicja Trout, and more alongside an unreleased interview with Reatard and never-before-seen photos.

Below, you can stream The Reatards’ “No One Stands Me” from Gonerfest 2005.

Pre-orders for each bundle are ongoing here. The LP’s tracklist and the film’s trailer follow.
