After years of writing classic comics like Watchmen and V for Vendetta, magical overlord/resident grump Alan Moore has turned to writing music in recent months. First, he released a song for Occupy Wall Street, and now he’s penned a number for the new Mitch Jenkins short film Jimmy’s End, performed by “Vince Shannon & The Black Notes”, aka TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe and Crook & Fail (Doseone and Fog’s Andrew Broder). “Queen of Midnight” is in the vein of classic soundtrack tunes like the Blue Velvet theme, a smoky, sultry mix of country guitar, classical piano, and ’60s pop sensibilities held together by Adebimpe’s evocative croon.

Stream the track and watch the film’s trailer below. Jimmy’s End premieres November 25th.
