Sigur Rós performed in their native Iceland for the first time in four years Sunday night and they marked the occasion by debuting a brand new song. Coming just six months after the release of Valtari, “Brennisteinn” packs an urgent drive of industrialism stemming from squonking, mechanical synths that plod through a web of strings. That might sound like a mess, but Jónsi chimes in unscathed with dovetailing vocals that resonate as quickly as they tear apart.
