If you had enough time, space, and money to watch a couple dozen TVs at once, it would almost be enough to recreate the sensation of watching The Presets’ new video for “Promises”. Helmed by New Zealand directorial duo Special Problems, the piece combines live footage and CGI animation, with each shot part of an individual micro-film: there’s the one about the girl and her beloved fan, the crazy person in elevator, the 24th century fashion show, and a surprisingly sensual nature documentary. Though the entire effort feels overwhelming visually, it makes for one moving, larger film held loosely together by a core aesthetic of shimmery colors and ethereal imagery. Watch it below.
