Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have announced a handful of dates supporting their many festival appearances this summer. Here’s the twist: Don’t expect to hear “Won’t Back Down” in just arenas this time around. Instead, the rock ‘n’ roll veterans want to keep this tour intimate and cozy, which explains their multi-night residencies at New York’s Beacon Theatre and Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre. In related news, the band’s press release acknowledges that this tour’s “a break from the studio where they are recording their highly anticipated follow up to 2010’s Mojo. The as-yet-untitled new record will be released on Reprise Records in 2014.”
