Similar to our weekly collection of MP3s, we decided to start ranking each week’s best videos. So, from here on out, our favorite weekly videos will be ordered in quality from 10-1. Who reigns champ this week? Grab some popcorn, sit back, and find out.
10. Matt Costa Good Times (Beyoncé Cover)
Dude in the striped sweater is getting his Jean-Paul Belmondo on real hard. Too bad things dont turn out real well for him in this video from Matt Costa.
09. Screaming Females Poison Arrow
The Annual Screaming Females Art Open: where all good album cover concept art goes to die (specifically that art which was made by a group of cross dressers). I promise that sentence will make more sense after you watch this video.
08. HAIM Falling
Seems as though its hard to go far without hearing, reading about, or seeing California sisters HAIM. Their latest video for Falling, a track which weve been unable to resist, finds the band galavanting through a foggy wooded area, having a general good time and such. HAIM will be performing at this years Bonnaroo, which we found out this week too.
06. Physical Therapy – “Do it Alone
Physical Therapy is no stranger to oddball visual accompaniment (look no further than the cover of his Safety Net EP for proof). The video for Do It Alone only reinforces just how weird the New Jersey-based producer is willing to get, who crafted something not entirely unlike Garrys Mod or Interstella 5555 as the story of this lone ranger unfolds.
05. Miguel – “Candles In The Sun”
I wanted to create a song and visual that addressed my everyday concerns of life as I know it in the world that we live in, Miguel said of his video for Candle in the Sun. The black and white affectations and overall intense nature of the clip accomplishes exactly that, a bleak and apparent commentary on humanitys current contradictions.
04. Planningtorock – “Misxgyny Drxp Dead
As a follow up to Patriarchy Over & Out, Misxgyny Drxp Dead is Planningtorocks newest social protest anthem, a hauntingly, whirling track that comes with an equally distinct video. Janine Rostron is nothing if not unique.
03. Bat For Lashes – “Lilies
The wild rumpus has indeed begun in this clip for Lilies. Watch as Bat For Lashes Natasha Khan twists and twirls in her magical world inhabited with furry monsters and stop-motion madness.
