Video: Matt Costa – “Good Times” (CoS Premiere)

For his self-titled fourth album, Matt Costa traveled to Glasgow to record with Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai). There, Costa culled from a truly rich pool of influences, integrating strings, horns, roots music, and English folk for a collection of 10 genre-hopping tunes.

Costa’s video for the jangly pop of “Good Times” is a metaphor for that aural journey. Much as the trip to Glasgow transformed Costa’s musical plans, the appearance of a charming Costa doppelganger during a dingy ride threatens to sink the plans of the good Costa and his lovely lady friend (played by actress Nathalie Love). Spoiler: things don’t go quite as swimmingly as they did for the real-life Costa.

Matt Costa the album is out now via Brushfire Records (snag your copy here). In support of the release, Costa will head out on a North American tour beginning in March. See his complete itinerary following the video.
