For years, Kurt Vile has been dutifully reppin’ his hometown of Philadelphia. Later this Summer, the City of Brotherly Love will finally return the favor by giving the Violator his own day.
According to Matador Records, August 28th has just been officially been dubbed “Kurt Vile Day” in Philadelphia. During said celebration, he will be presented with the Liberty Bell Award — “the highest honor the City can bestow upon one of its citizens” — then give a free solo performance in City Hall Courtyard.
This news comes hand-in-hand with Vile’s latest video for Wakin On A Pretty Daze track “KV Crimes”, where the celebrations seem to have already begun. He receives the royal treatment: a bejeweled crown, a cushy throne, and his very own Philly parade. The King is even served food and drink from the almighty Wawa convenience store!
