The impromptu breakup of fun-loving indie-pop band Voxtrot still stings my soul. The Austin collective never was able to follow up their critically acclaimed trio of EP and subsequent full-length LP, instead opting to go their separate ways in 2010. I’d argue till the end of days that their 2007 album was unfairly criticized by the blogosphere, but whereas I’m stuck in the past, Voxtrot frontman Ramesh Srivastava is moving onward with a new musical vehicle.
Today, Ramesh returns with two new solo tracks in anticipation of a short tour of Texas. “Youth Trip” is a lush, synth-filled instrumental, while Paradise (For Keith Haring And The Legendary Children)” is more in line with the styles of Voxtrot. Take a listen to both tracks below (via Stereogum).
