Brooklyn-San Francisco electronic outfit Lemonade has cracked open their second single of 2013. Following this past Spring’s “Perfect Blue”, the six-minute “Skyballer” fuses together a couple modern island flavors, notably the steel drum-sounding keyboards and the wavy synths that feel like a day at the beach somewhere hot ‘n’ sandy in the Keys. (To be honest, if the folks down in Islamorada started playing this and Washed Out more often — instead of the remedial playlists of Jimmy Buffett, Carlos Santana, and “Kokomo” — I’d probably book more trips.) So far, this makes Lemonade 2-2 this year; let’s see if they can string together a few more adventurous singles and follow up last year’s weaker sophomore effort, Diver.
