Another week, another solid entry in Adult Swim’s 2013 Singles Program. This week, Marine Stern serves up another helping of her effervescent, bunny-quick alt-rock. “This Was It” is all swirling guitar scales and Stern’s trademarked jittery delivery, sending machine gun lyrics out like a gleeful spirit. Thematically, it’s strictly joy and love, as she sings “I’ve been sorting through a list of all our possibilities / And I don’t ever want to go back to the way it used to be / It’s like I’m living as the way I always wanted to see me.” It’s all of the happiest moments of The Chronicles of Marnia in one high velocity dose. Take a listen below (via Spin).
The 2013 edition of Adult Swims Singles Program has already featured new tracks from Lightening Bolt, Dan Deacon, El-P and Killer Mike, METZ, Madlib and Freddie Gibbs, Mac DeMarco, Autre Ne Veut, and Kitty. Also be on the lookout for new music from Captain Murphy and DOOM, Miguel, and Pig Destroyer in the coming weeks.
