Listen to Quasi's raucous new single, "See You on Mars"

Portland’s Quasi (drummer extraordinaire Janet Weiss and ex-husband/former Elliott Smith collaborator Sam Coomes) refer to their forthcoming double album Mole City as an “Encyclopedia of Kicking Ass”. That’s true of the drunken sing-along that is “You Can Stay But You Got to Go”, and it’s a viable summation of the album’s latest single, “See You on Mars”.

While not quite as dissonant and confrontational, this latest number combines the groove of garage-rock guitar and drums, a little bar room piano, and a generous helping of crunch for a number as playful as it is raucous. It’s totally perfect for either drunken dancing at 2 a.m. or as the theme song for the Red Planet’s first tourism campaign (“Mars: Come Get Stupid Drunk and Chill Out”). Listen in below.
