Angel Haze’s “30 Gold” freestyle series is still going strong. Over the last week, we’ve seen the rising emcee freestyle over songs from Jay Z, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Now, she’s turning her sights toward pop with a remake of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball”.
Rather than rapping, though, Haze delivers a straight-forward acoustic rendition of the ex-Hannah Montana’s smash (pun definitely intended) hit single. Having already proven to own a mighty set of lungs, Haze unleashes her full vocal potential, bounding between fragile croon and guttural wail as she tears at heartstrings with each new note. Grab your hanky and listen in below.
The “30 Gold” series serves as a precursor to Haze’s debut album, Dirty Gold, due out later this year via Republic Records.
