The incomparable Mac DeMarco has announced details of his next album. Though not as outrageous as A Little Bit of Pussy, it still packs a hilarious title, Salad Days, and features the above portrait as its artwork. A release date is set for April 1st via Captured Tracks.
DeMarco previously debuted a handful of albums tracks during recent live performances, including a session for Edmonton radio station CKUA. Not among those early previews, lead single “Passing Out Pieces” sees DeMarco and Co. exploring more psychedelic territory, shifting away from the realm of Bachman-Turner Overdrive rock for a shimmery, almost magical pop ballad with clear ties to Sgt. Pepper’s-era Beatles. (He could easily pass for Ringo during the chorus of “Don’t you know, nothing ain’t free.”) Listen in below.,
