In one of the more controversial victories at last night’s Grammy Awards, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis topped Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Drake, and Jay Z to win Best Rap Album. The same Macklemore and Ryan Lewis who were nearly blacklisted from the category mere days prior.
Turns out even Macklemore himself has mixed feelings about winning and took to Instagram to share a text message he sent to Kendrick. “You got robbed,” Macklemore confessed. “I wanted you to win. You should have. It’s weird and sucks that I robbed you.”

As one of my Twitter friends aptly pointed out last night, it’s not like you’ll even remember who won the Grammy a year from now. Without looking it up, can you tell me who won Best Rap Album in 2013? That would be Drake’s Take Care. What does age better in the memory bank, however, are performances like the one Kendrick delivered last night. So, the King of Compton shouldn’t sweat.
