While some cliques wear Owl t-shirts or camouflage, Rock-A-Fella Records distinguishes its talent with a gold chain. Google image Jay Z, Kanye West, The Dream, Curren$y, or Memphis Bleek and there’s a pretty good chance you’ll see them wearing a big gold chain around their neck.
Last night, in celebration of his 29th birthday, J Cole was presented with his own Roc-A-Fella chain. Only get this: it’s used. That’s because it used to belong to Jay Z.
Jay surprised Cole during his concert in New York City last night. “It’s your birthday but that on your neck is my original Roc chain, and it’s yours,” he told Cole. And all you got for your birthday was an Xbox One.
Jay’s chain wasn’t the only present Cole received, however. Jay stuck around to perform a couple of songs and Kendrick Lamar also showed up as a special guest.
