Amidst rumors of a solo album, new music from The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas has popped up in a documentary about artist Samuel Adoquei called The Unseen Beauty. A collaboration with composer Simon Taufique, “Human Sadness” is featured at the 7:00 minute mark of the film’s newly revealed trailer, which you can watch below.
While Casablancas’ unique vocal stylings take a backseat to Taufique’s composition, his barely-there yelps radiate a strange mix of optimism and heartache that’s only further enhanced by the medley of chunky, ’80s-inspired keys and guitar. Listen in below.
